“Light yourself on fire with passion and people will come from miles to watch you burn.”
John Wesley said, “Light yourself on fire with passion and people will come from miles to watch you burn.” I believe that one of the things that has allowed me to lead the way I have, is this passion that burns deep inside of me. I am compelled by a God-given vision for myself, for my church and for the people around me to impact the world around me. This passion has been the catalyst to help develop my leadership style.
It is our job as leaders to call out qualities and potential in those around us. We must always be looking for ways to develop and activate people to be who God has designed them to be and to do what God has designed them to do. God designed each person with a specific plan and purpose. Part of our job as leaders is to lead people to that purpose.
As leaders we must be aware that we are setting the culture. We have the power to set the tone of what the culture within our organization will be. Those we lead look to us to know how to feel, work and talk. One of the more important values I set with those I lead is an atmosphere of affirmation. This atmosphere encourages people to use their talents and unleash their potential. To lead well, we must love the vision God has given us and love those we lead.
