"Be Careful To Not Talk All The Time"

“Be careful to not talk all the time.” I heard this instruction pretty often growing up from my mom and dad. They voiced this instruction often enough that all they needed to do was give me that “look” when I was talking too much. I knew that look really well because..well..I talked too much pretty regularly. My dad would often quote Proverbs 17:28 to me. “Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.” I don’t get this right all the time, but I often think to myself even as an adult while in a conversation…”Would my dad be giving me that..”that’s enough” or “it’s time to be quiet” look. I’m grateful my parents pointed me to wisdom even as a child. This particular piece of wisdom has served me well throughout the years.
